3sixteen fatigue shorts are a seasonal variant of their classic Fatigue Pant. They take design cues from the military surplus pant that was standard issue for the US Army.
They feature baker front pockets and gusseted back pockets. The brand added a drawstring to the waist for easy sizing and comfort. This season, 3sixteen sourced a heavyweight HBT fabric from Japan that has a lot of heft to it. Off the loom, this fabric is very crunchy and starchy so 3sixteen worked with the mill to develop a rinse on the fabric that softened the hand considerably. It is truly one of the best HBT’s we’ve ever seen.
The fabric itself develops a lot of character with wear as well: it slightly fades, wrinkles, and the herringbone pattern becomes more pronounced. We see this fabric as the ideal HBT, even better than what you would find on vintage pieces.
Founded in LA by Johan Lam and Andrew Chen over a decade ago, 3sixteen’s philosophy is evident in pieces they’ve developed since 2008: shirts, jackets, basics and accessories all take cues in form and function from their jeans. Fabrics and trims are always chosen for their capacity to develop character with time. 3sixteen aim is that, with diligent wear, the customers are rewarded with something well-aged, never “old.”
